NZ: Mulgowie Farming Company wins importer of the year award

Lockyer Valley's Mulgowie Farming Company has taken home the top award for 2017 Importer of the Year in Auckland, awarded by New Zealand supermarket chain Countdown.

Countdown, part of the Woolworths Group, said never comprising on quality, fantastic customer service and always ensuring a full supply of quality farm fresh vegetables as major reasons for the win.

Mulgowie's farms are located on four latitudes across Australia, with this diverse spread of farming allowing the company to grow fresh sweet corn, beans, broccoli and pumpkin in peak season across regions and to counter supply issues that can result from weather events impacting one region.

Mulgowie Farming Company CEO Fabian Carniel said the Mulgowie team had a strong focus on quality and emphasis on healthy soil, healthy plants and healthy people, which provided them with a unique advantage of being able to consistently deliver quality, fresh and nutritious produce.

"Mulgowie conducts extensive market research, analyses produce trends and engages with customers to gain a better understanding of what they want from Australian farmers," Mr Carniel said.

"Combining this knowledge with continuing to keep the consumer top-of-mind has assisted this result, but it is the hard work and dedication of our staff that delivered the win."

Mulgowie was also nominated by Countdown as one of only four suppliers to be considered for overall Supplier of the Year.
