"China: Grapes from Pujiang "fly" to Singapore"

On the 8th of August, a batch of fresh plump and tender grapes, just harvested from a fruit orchard in Pujiang county, were transported to the international airport in Xiaoshan in a cold-chain vehicle. Reports state that this batch of grapes had a total weight of 400kg and is currently being sent onto an international flight headed for the Singaporean market, where they will be sold. This was the first time the airport in Xiaoshan had exported fruit to a foreign country.

It is estimated that this batch of fresh grapes were harvested at 1am in the morning of the 28th, and after having been stored in a preparatory refrigerator for more than 4 hours, were wrapped up and transported to the international airport in Xiaoshan.

Due to the high temperatures and the requirements concerning transporting fresh fruit, the time necessary to clear the customs have become longer. In order to help enterprises in reducing that time, the standardized grapes from Pujiang county have appeared for the first time publicly overseas. The customs in Hangzhou will quickly sort out the process for exports after having informed themselves about the export plan of the enterprises. They will understand the exact requirements of enterprises that need to go through customs, so they ought to provide focused policies and service process guidance to the enterprises. Even more, they should set up a specialized documentation investigation office and speed up the process of clearing the customs.

In August this year, the international airport in Hangzou city's Xiaoshan county has obtained the permission to import fruit through the trading post. Along with the development of cold-chain logistics domestically, and the incessant increase in the number of flights going to Singapore and other places from the airport in Xiaoshan, favorable conditions have been created for the import and export of fresh fruit. After today, the trading post at the international airport of Xiaoshan is likely to continue importing and exporting fruit in growing amounts.
