New flat peach varieties revealed

While the flat peaches varieties of ASF are now well- known as benchmark varieties during the whole season, with a range beginning at UFO3 ripening time until 10 days after Sweetcap, Laurence & Arsene Maillard haven't stopped the research. The new generation offer varieties starting at UFO2 until 1 month after Sweetcap.

Like FLATWO cov ASF1292 (UFO2 ripening time)

Or FLATDIVA cov ASF11106 (1 month after SWEETCAP®)

Benchmark varieties such as Flatbella cov ASF0792 which have always provided full satisfaction for their productivity and taste, are going to give way at new selections like Flatcandy cov ASF1491, with an almost completed flat round shape, a blossom cavity closed around 80% for the former varieties is now closed to the perfection with this new generation.

FLATCANDY cov ASF1491

Like Laurence Maillard said: “We are not only focusing on presentation for our flat peaches but above all these varieties are very tasty and convenient characterized by a perfect balance between aroma, sugar and acidity. In other words they are as attractive as tasty!”

New selections to satisfy producer & consumer:
For over 40 years the research of Laurence and Arsene Maillard has focused on outstanding organoleptic characteristics with a semi-sweet flavor, good aromas, along the season; because yes, at Agro Selections Fruits, a special focus is given to breed complete range in all the sub-species of peaches and nectarines.

NECTARNOVALA cov ASF1323 (white-fleshed nectarine ripening end of June)

NECTARONDA cov ASF1304 (BIGTOP®)

CRISPSOL cov ASF1343 (O’Henry®)

CRISPONDA cov ASF1146L (ripening time: mid-june)

In addition there is also a long life on tree, allowing to harvest the production in few picks for producers and therefore an improvement of the cost-effectiveness.

New Apricots with PPV’s resistant genes:
For apricots, Laurence & Arsène Maillard are looking for varieties with an outstanding eating quality in order to meet grower's satisfaction above all. They have also developed 3 varieties with PPV’s resistant genes:

Like APRIREVE cov ASF0905 (ripening time: Soledane +4 days)

Or APRINEW cov ASF0916 (ripening time: beginning of July)

These varieties, all self-pollinating, are today in a trial at the CTIFL of Lanxade with inoculums of the virus to officially declare them resistant to PPV. These results, if they confirm, have the purpose to reassure a hard hit sector.

Since 2010, ASF has focused its research on resistance to pest and disease in order to be able to offer, in short order, varieties with no sensitivity to Powdery mildew, to peach leaf curl and aphids, or reduced sensitivity to Monilia.
