Huelva, Spain, November 9

International Blueberry Seminar crosses the Atlantic

The International Seminars event will cross the Atlantic for the first time to convene in Huelva in the south of Spain. Many different European, African and Latin American producers will attend to learn more about the industry, the advances in technology, and the important work ongoing in scientific investigation and development.

The 9th International Blueberry Seminar will be held on November 9 at the Barceló Punta Umbria Hotel in Huelva, Spain, and will be the first and most important event in the sector, due to the relevance of the topics to be discussed, the eminence of the speakers, and because Blueberries Consulting together with AGQ Labs have a vast experience of running these meetings in America.

Among the attendees will be Antonio Lobato, an agronomist; Iván Frutos, international corporate consultant; Gonzalo Allendes, agricultural engineer; Bruno Defilippi, agricultural engineer INIA Chile, and Jorge Retamales, agricultural agronomist and researcher at the University of Talca.

It will be a key moment to analyze and define the present and future of the sector, because many countries have integrated into the production of blueberries and because the demand for blueberries grows exponentially in the world. The antioxidant properties of its fruit situate it with each coming day in a place of privilege in the human diet, universalizing its consumption.

Mexico, Peru and Argentina 2017
This event began on June 8 in Mexico in 2017 with the 6th International 'Blueberry Industry in Mexico: New Challenges, New Opportunities' Seminar held at the Hyatt Regency Guadalajara Hotel. It was a great reunion with the Mexican producers, time was short and several issues have already surfaced for the future, as the conversation continues.

The 7th International Seminar was held on June 13 at the JW Marriott in Lima, Peru, under the motto: 'Peru and the blueberry industry: Defining strategies for access to new markets'. It was an enriching trip for an industry that has grown rapidly and that, if it continues at this pace, in the future could lead regional production. Not only are more hectares being planted, but also the incorporation of more productive varieties. That allows a better quality and condition of the fruit to face the long distances of the new destination markets.

At the end of the Latin American cycle of 2017, the 8th International Seminar was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Tucumán, Argentina, where a meeting of blueberry producers had never been held. Here they discussed the reality of a crop that is not new to the country and the reality and future prospects of the Argentine cranberry industry in Tucumán.
