Complying with "all the norms to guarantee the safety and quality of our products", entrepreneur Auli Moreno, legal representative of Agricola Santana de los Llanos SAS received the certificate of Good Agricultural Practices (BPA) from the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA). The 'Santana' property owned by the firm was certified.
In addition the 'Santana' estate, located in the village of Jagüito de Tauramena, was registered as a fresh fruit exporter, becoming the first to obtain this double distinction in Casanare. Agricola Santana will be able to export Gold MD2 pineapple to countries like Russia and the United States.
"The ICA verified through a field visit the requirements for the BPA certification established by ICA resolution 30021 of 2017, and resolution 0448 of 2016 that governs the requirements for ICA registration of the farms with vegetables for fresh exportation, the registration of exporters and the registration of plants and packing plants for fresh export," the ICA said in a press release.
"We celebrate this great achievement obtained by an entrepreneur who is linked to the Pineapple Cluster initiative we lead, and with whom we are working on the organic pineapple production pilot project," said the CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Casanare (CCC), Carlos Rojas Arenas.
Auli Moreno is part of the group of pineapple growers who, since August 27, have undertaken the Specialized Pineapple Commercial Mission to Costa Rica, the leading country in the production and export of pineapples worldwide.
"Agricola Santana de los Llanos SAS, also has a record as a producer of selected pineapple seed, Gold MD2 variety, after having met the requirements established in resolutions 3168 of 2015 and 3180 of 2009-2016."
