Pablo Fitskie of Solfruit International:
"Market for Galia melons is completely different from watermelons"

Tholen - The European import season for Central and South American melons is currently in full swing. Some weeks ago the first Galia melons arrived from Panama and currently several containers of melons are arriving weekly under Solfruit's own Royal Fresh label. The company not only imports Galia melons from Panama, but also watermelons from Costa Rica, Panama and Honduras.

"The market for Galia melons is completely different from the market for watermelons", Pablo Fitskie of Solfruit says. The demand for Galia melons is quite good, but the demand for watermelons is still insufficient. Especially in the weeks before Easter, the Galia melons are going very strong.

The import season for melons from Panama started a bit later. Therefore a steady supply is expected until the end of April.
