PotatoEurope 2017 to open its doors in three weeks

In three weeks PotatoEurope 2017 opens its doors. The deputy of the province of Flevoland in the Netherlands will have the honour of opening the trade fair.

Over 265 exhibitors (+8 %) from 16 countries will share their potato expertise with you in their booths and allow visitors a look into the potato chain of the future.

The potato platform of 2017 consists of an international trade fair, field demonstrations, multiple machinery demonstrations, knowledge sessions, a young professional program, an innovation award, company visits and more.

The organization of the event, DLG Benelux, expects around 15,000 visitors from 50 countries. The nearly sold out exhibition is an important meeting point for growers, contractors, processors, packers, buyers and traders of fresh and processed potatoes from all over the world. World Potato City Emmeloord is the international potato platform of the world during these two days.

To feed the growing world population, innovation plays an important role. To emphasize innovations from the potato chain, the PotatoEurope Innovation Award has been established. For the competition 26 innovations have been handed in.

A competent jury will decide which 5 innovations will go to the next round, in which the public may designate the final winner. Peter Kooman, lecturer in potato chain and sector innovation at Aeres University of Applied Science, will hand out the award on Wednesday 13 September at 09.15 hrs. Directly after the opening of the trade fair.
