China: High temperatures and rain push up cauliflower prices

This year, the cauliflower supply was quite homogenous. Cauliflower from Baishazhou in Wuhan, Hubei, for example, has already entered the market in the summer. The supply mainly depends on places like Gansu and Shaanxi. Because of the weather, such as rainstorms and floods all over Shaanxi, it is not easy to harvest and transport them, which has led to a small increase in price.

From previous years, it can be seen that foreign cauliflower that enters the market early has a relatively high price, but, because of the local competition, sellers still often lose money. This is contrary to later periods, when the supply of local cauliflowers is comparable to that of foreign suppliers, and they can make a profit. Even though the weather is the largest influence on the price, the change in production area can also affect the market.
