China: Shenzhen Bay Port receives a batch of Canadian cherries

On July 23, a batch of Canadian cherries arrived to Shenzhen Bay Port. The batch consisted of 117 boxes, weighing 585 kg, and was worth 3,744 dollars. This was the first time Canadian cherries have been imported to the Shenzhen Bay Port. Today, there are 8 countries that are approved to export cherries to China. In general, Chinese cherries mature in May-June, while the United States Northwest cherry is just entering the end of it's production period. The Canadian cherry season usually starts in June and continues until September. The United States Northwest cherry fits very well into the schedule and now the Canadian cherry will carry on and cover the gap in the Chinese market.
