UK Fresh Produce Consortium announces new President

The Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC) is delighted to announce that Alan Forrester of Greenyard Fresh UK is the newly elected President. Council directors voted unanimously at a recent council meeting held prior to the Annual General Meeting.

Alan is Managing Director of Greenyard Fresh UK and Greenyard Flowers; he is highly respected in the industry and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the sector.

Alan commented: “In these challenging times it’s more important than ever that we get behind the industry trade association and provide a strong, influential voice in Brexit negotiations and other areas. The FPC plays a vital role and I look forward to working with the board and to supporting Nigel and the team in the coming months.”

Jim Rogers stood down as President but opted to remain on the board and has taken up the role of Vice President for a six-month period to assist with a handover of the role. Jim is a longstanding supporter of the FPC and was first elected as President in 2008.

He said: “I have enjoyed my tenure and I’m delighted to hand over to Alan who will bring a new and refreshing influence. The profile of the FPC is higher than ever and the extensive membership continues to grow year on year, so this is the perfect time to hand on the baton and I have no doubt that Alan’s experience and leadership skills will greatly benefit the association and its members.”

Mike Parr was also elected unanimously as the second Vice President; and other directors up for election and successfully voted in for a further two-year period included Veryan Bliss, Nigel Jenney and Martin Panter.
Nigel Jenney CEO commented: “I’m delighted with the election results – we have a strong board and the appointment of Alan as President and Mike as Vice President couldn’t be better.

We thank Jim for his support and contribution as President over the past nine years and we’re pleased he has agreed to remain as Vice President for a period. We have a lot of work to do in the coming months and I very much look forward to progressing our influence in Brexit with the enthusiastic, pro-active support of the board.”
