China: Guava fruit fly found at Yinchuan Airport

Recently, during a routine inspection of the luggage of passengers arriving on a flight from Thailand, inspectors from the Quarantine and Inspection Bureau at Yinchuan Airport intercepted Guava fruit flies-- a quarantine pest. It was the first time that this species has been found in Yinchuan.

The inspectors found the pests in a box of Jambu Wax Apple weighing 0.35 kg brought by a passenger in their luggage. They intercepted the fruits after preliminary inspection. Experts confirmed later that the species was indeed the Guava fruit fly which is on the list of quarantine pests.
