Liuyang county in Hunan holds its first Hot Pepper Cultural Tourism Festival

Hot peppers are an ingredient that Hunan people cannot do without in their dishes. It is a pepper that represents "fire" and "hot", and a symbol for the courageous children of Hunan and their strong vitality. On the morning of 12 July, the first 2017 Hunan Liuyang county Hot Pepper Cultural Tourism Festival was held in the village of Gejiap which, according to legend, is a state founded by general Song Renqiong. Over 200 different kinds of hot peppers in many different colors were spread all over the festival location and on both sides of the roads, to represent the charm of Gejia's unique hot peppers.
