"No need for nervousness among stonefruit marketers"
"At the moment, the volumes stored are lower than those of the same period last season," points out Joan SedentÃ, manager of Fruilar, in Lleida. According to the producer and exporter, there is no real pressure to get the production quickly to the market. This nervousness in the sector does not reflect the available supply," he affirms.
The Catalan company has recently started its stonefruit campaign.
"I think it's as good a time as ever to defend our fruit. This season, we are four or five days ahead compared to last year, so the peak production period in Catalonia, which normally takes place in mid-July, is already almost over."
