"Good market for limes, pressure on lemon prices"

"Limes, lemons & more" is how the team at Fruit Market International (FMI) describes their core business. We discussed the current market situation of both products with Peter Bouman. "We are expecting an increase in consumption of both products in the coming year. We are working hard to become the best lime importer. We are not focused on bulk and volume, but on good quality products and strong brands."

Limes
"The market for limes has been good over the last few weeks. This is especially due to the nice weather in Europe and the lower volumes compared to last year. Due to rain in the production areas, Brazil and Mexico have shipped limited volumes over the past few weeks", says Peter.

Lemons
"The first weeks of the global lemon season have, in contrast, been somewhat difficult. There are a lot of lemons on the market. Spanish produce is available, and Argentina and South Africa have also shipped large volumes. This creates a lot of pressure on lemon prices. We are waiting to see what will happen in August."
