FruitMasters brings Disney to the fruit and vegetable shelves

Tsum Tsum a 2017 trend
FruitMasters and Disney have created a savings programme of Tsum Tsum toys in apples and pears. The parties are working together to make fruit even more fun for families with kids.

Tsum Tsum toy trend
"In our search for a new savings programme for apples and pears, we ended up in Japan. The Tsum Tsum toys come from the popular and eponymous app which has broken various records in Asia. A game in which Disney Tsum Tsums are stacked. A kind of modern Disney Tetris," according to Helen Schoots, Marketer for FruitMasters. "Partially due to our successful collaboration with Disney these toys have become a trend in the Netherlands as well. Under the name Smulfruit consumers can save up for Disney Tsum Tsum toys all year. There is now a run on Tsum Tsum toys. They can be stacked, so it's fun to save as many as possible. We are receiving a lot of enthusiastic responses from our collectors."

Magic on the fruit and vegetable shelves
The Tsum Tsum toys are available in favourite Disney characters from the films The Lion King, Jungle Book, Toy Story and Mickey Mouse and friends. Due to their oval shape the toys can be easily stacked. Kenny Vanvlasselaer, Category Manager FMCG at Disney, ads: "Smulfruit is a great initiative that Disney wants to make even more fun together with FruitMaster. This is why we aim to inspire families with children with our unique Disney characters and stories. Kids can play with Tsum Tsum toys endlessly, which you can collect if you eat a lot of Smulfruit. The children and the entire family can enjoy the magic as it only exists in the world of Disney."

Healthy offer
To get a toy, a consumer has to have four codes, which can be collected by buying bags and dishes of apples and pears. The fruit consumption is positively stimulated by this. To collect the 25 toys, a consumer will first have to buy a considerable amount of apples and pears. The consumption of fruit for this campaign is considerable. This is an extra step in the trend of consumers opting for healthy options more often. According to research by the RIVM* children eat 30% more fruit than five years ago. Despite this tendency we still don't eat the recommended amount of fruit per day. Together with Disney FruitMasters is stimulating a healthy life style in which children eat two pieces of fruit every day.The Smulfruit concept fits this perfectly.
