Driscoll’s mobile application supports supermarket staff

With the launch of their first retailer mobile application in DEMEA, the Category Development team of Driscoll’s found a new way to directly connect with in-store supermarket personnel.

The app guides the fresh produce staff through a 5 step “Fix the Basics” programme, in which tips and tricks are provided for the creation of a successful berry presentation, to unlock higher berry sales performances in stores.

In addition, stores can compete with each other by uploading best practices and earning a position in the star ranking. Last February, during Fruit Logistica, Driscoll’s introduced the mobile application. Danish Customer Dansk is the first retailer to use the tool at this moment.

The berry category is driving the total packed fruit category growth. This raises the question how the retailer can grow this category even more. Driscoll's created this application to help solve this problem.

This application shows which basic elements can be implemented in store to be successful and therefore can drive the berry sales. With the 5 steps, retailers are able to give the berry category the right attention on the floor and able to further expand and grow the berry category.

Rutger Mutsaerts, Trade Analyst & Category Development Specialist:
“We noticed that a direct connection with the in-store staff is useful, in order to provide education about a perfect and excellent execution of the berry presentation.

That is why we started to look for a fun and engaging way to share insights on cooler positioning, shelf presentation and second placement. This resulted in the development of a special retailer app, which allows us to interact with stores. Participants can ask for advice of our Driscoll’s experts and we can send out push messaging about upcoming events and campaigns."
