Valencia variety

Brazil: First Cutrale fresh oranges arriving in Europe soon

In the fresh citrus season 2017, Cutrale started shipments in week 10 with fresh lemon (Eureka variety). The exported volume was sorted among EEC and non EEC receivers in order to promote its brand as much as possible in the fresh lemon trade.

"This season we were focused to spread shipments as much as possible in order to promote the Cutrale brand also for fresh lemon because some of our end receivers didn´t know that we also pack fresh lemon besides fresh oranges", Carlos Amorim said.

The main receivers of Cutrale's fresh lemon this season, besides Europe, were located in Ukraine, Canada, Russia and the Middle East.

For fresh oranges, the season 2017 started with shipments in week 18.
“In season 2017 we started shipments with varieties which we didn't use to export regularly, like Pineapple and Pera´s fresh oranges. These juicy and tasty fruits motivated shipments mainly for juicing purpose customers. For this kind of end user, we pack the fruit in wooden pallet bins of 1,180 kg net and this fruit is already comprising almost 50% of our total export volume”.

The first Valencia fresh oranges, packed in cartons of 15 kg and or pallet bins of 1,180 kg, will arrive in EEC very soon. “The European market will be, as usual, our main import market and more than 70% of our shipments of this variety will go to dozens of regular customers and almost 15 discharging ports into the EEC”, he says.

He concludes: "We are expecting another good season in terms of demand as well as phytosanitary issues as happened in 2016. We are keeping up the same quality care as in past seasons and investing in technology to increase Packing House production capacity which is operating 12 months a year to attend to domestic / export demand for our fresh citrus.
