Daniel Benavides, of Huamani de Perú

Inauguration of modern citrus line at Grupo Huamani

"On Friday, 23 June, we inaugurated a modern citrus line at our plant, which will allow us to pack 25 tonnes per hour and up to 10 containers a day when working with oranges, mandarins and tangelos. The inauguration was attended by public officials, entrepreneurs, producers, shipping companies, suppliers of raw materials and customers, who checked the capacity and efficiency of our new line," stated Daniel Benavides, of the Peruvian company Huamani.

Huamani is a producer specialised in citrus fruits, asparagus, grapes and pomegranates. "We have a packing plant that is constantly renovated," explains Daniel Benavides. "We also have a highly qualified team, committed and passionate about the fruits that we bring to more than 35 countries. The quality and the certifications we have, such as SMETA, Global Gap or BRC, are a result of our commitment to continuous improvement. Another fundamental activity is the search and development of new varieties of our own, suited for the type of soil and climate we have.

For 35 years, Huamaní has been taking advantage of the qualities of the Ica desert. "Huamani was one of the first 100% family and Peruvian businesses that started their agricultural production in this arid area. We face unpredictable and very challenging weather and soil conditions, but our many years of hard work have borne their fruits and helped us become the company that we are now. We are able to supply both domestic and international markets with a proudly Peruvian product which has convinced importers in increasingly demanding markets," continues Daniel.

Its citrus season ends in week 39. From November to March, they work with grapes and from March to May with pomegranates. They also have asparagus runs from August to January. "This has allowed us to create jobs in the surrounding towns all year round, thus helping in their continuous development," concludes Daniel.
