Because of the steep fall in the price of bananas recently, several members of the legislative court of the Democratic Progressive Party in Taiwan organized a press conference about bananas on the 26th of June. The members of the legislative court each held a banana in their hands, their facial expressions showing that they were ready to eat the fragrant bananas. They hope that the people will consume more bananas, so the banana farmers can overcome this period of hardship.
A news report states that, although Taiwan is also called the 'Kingdom of Bananas', as soon as the output of bananas is reduced, all politicians consider this to be big trouble. If they cannot resolve the banana problem, the leaders fear that it will be like slipping on a banana skin, with an unavoidable fall. Bananas, and the government on this small island, can never shed their responsibility.
