"The acreage was smaller in the Netherlands this year and this was good for prices. The aubergine prices are now between 80 and 90 cents, with highs in the last week of EUR 1,20-1,30 euro. There is wide demand, with the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Germany and the United Kingdom remaining the largest sales outlets for our aubergines. In addition, there is also good demand from Eastern Europe", says Patrick.
"How the market will develop in the coming weeks, depends largely on production. This was high last week and this week, but we are not expecting it to increase. Of course, the holidays are traditionally difficult, but I am positive about the coming period', says Patrick. "The demand for specialty aubergines is also good. This means we hardly have product for the free market."
