Italy: Stable prices and good quality for raspberries in June

"Raspberry quotations had dropped in May but remained stable throughout June," reports Alessandro Lucchini from Consorzio Piccoli Frutti, owner of the Aurorafruit brand.

"The raspberry campaign started well but difficulties on the Spanish market in May affected the Italian product as well. June remained stable with some signs of recovery."

Harvesting will continue for another ten days in the Verona area, while it has just started in Trentino Alto Adige. Operations are practically over in the Po Valley, also due to the high temperatures. Some damage has been registered due to the heat waves.

Gilberto Molari from Vivai Molari talked about the Enrosadira variety on a European level. "Production was good in Spain and Portugal, with over 2 kg per plant if we consider both the autumn and spring harvest. In Italy, the double harvest produced over 2.5 kg per plant with a percentage of first-choice fruit of 97%. Harvesting is currently under way in Poland, Germany and France. Producers are reporting an excellent quality, especially in those regions where temperatures have maintained in line with seasonal standards."
