FreshPlaza put together a photo report of the finalists of the United Fresh 2017 Innovation Awards in the fruit, vegetable and packaging categories. Innovations within the fruit category were limited compared to the number of new products in the vegetable space.
Vegetable noodles and produce kits
There were many new products on display. Vegetable noodles seem to be one of the most trending new items because of their versatility, health benefits, and convenience. Companies offer them in the same four varieties: zucchini, sweet potato, butternut and beet. One company offers them exclusively in organic.
Kits were also very well represented among the award finalists with the most traditional product being salad kits. Smoothie kits, soup kits, snacking kits, stir fry kits and even a pickle kit complement the kit options.
Crunch Pak Apple Rings won the award for Best New Fruit Product. The award for Best New Vegetable Product went to the veggie spirals of the Veggie Noodle Co. and Dole took the award for Best New Packaging with its Go Berries!
