The import of pears is gradually increasing. According to the Agrodata Peru website, between January and May this year the country imported 8,816,686 kilos of this product at a CIF value of US $ 6,780,760. These numbers are higher than the 7,310,237 kilos worth US $ 5,691,185 that the country imported in the same period of 2016.
According to the same source, the main supplier of this fruit was Chile, as it was responsible for 88% of the shipments that arrived in Peru. It was followed, a long way back, by Argentina with 11% and the United States with 1%.
The main importers in the aforementioned period were Menflo Hermanos SAC, responsible for 13% of total acquisitions, WSW SA (11%), Cencosud Retail Peru SA (9%), Honey Fruit Import & Export SAC (6%), Peque EIRL (5%), Oregon Foods SAC (5%) Import y Export Melfrut EIRL (3%), Coniterick de Frutas SAC (3%), FYF Corp. SAC (2%), Rosmil Premium Fruit (2%), Benzan Export SRL (2%), Distribuidora Sian Len SAC (2%) and other companies that together account for 37%.
