Taiwan to open experimental avocado farm in Yangzhou

In future, Taiwan might open an experimental base for avocado cultivation in Yangzhou, which means that healthy avocado fruit, also known as 'forest cream', will be be bred in Yangzhou. Ji Jinchi, an agricultural expert from Taiwan Yufu Biotechnology, says that Yangzhou and Taiwan share a similar climate during all four seasons, which should be enough to satisfy the avocado's needs. Add to this, advanced technological support and avocado growing in Yangzhou will be completely feasible.

At this moment, the technical team is already choosing a place in Yangzhou. They hope that during the first phase they will sow about 13 ha of land and turn it into an exemplary plantation. The first phase is breeding. Once breeding is complete, the project will be implemented. The future plan consists of fruit trees planted an area of 2,000 acres, In the end, all this will make up an avocado-farming biotechnology chain, that will not only cultivate, process and sell avocados, but also attract tourists.
