Citrus Australia announces CEO departure

Citrus Australia CEO Judith Damiani will be leaving the organisation on 31 December 2017, after nine years at the helm.

Citrus Australia Chair Tania Chapman said that the Board wished Judith the very best for the future and thanked her for her enormous contribution in transforming the organisation and leaving it on a strong foundation.

Tania said that Judith played a critical role in the development and success of the organisation through some tough times in industry including:
  • Building a dedicated and dynamic team
  • Growing membership every year to reach record levels in 2017
  • Leading industry restructure and facilitating an increase in the national research & development and biosecurity levies
  • Supporting export growth through market access, international relations and as a fierce supporter of the North Asian Free Trade Agreements
Over the next few months the Citrus Australia board will be conducting a search to find the new Citrus Australia CEO.

“We will be working with Judith and the rest of the team to ensure a smooth transition while we continue to support the industry through the season.”

We cannot thank Judith enough for her dedication, passion and professionalism she has given Citrus Australia, not only in her tenure with us but in her long involvement with the Australian citrus industry. She will be greatly missed by staff, Board, members and partners alike. We look forward to her continued success in her career and are excited for the next chapter of Citrus Australia” Tania said.

Judith said “After nearly nine years with Citrus Australia and a further 14 years in various roles within the Australian citrus industry I recently submitted my resignation to the board to pursue new challenges. It was a difficult decision but the right one as many of the tasks required have been achieved and Citrus Australia is in a strong position to continue to grow.

It’s been an enormous privilege to lead this wonderful organisation and I am extremely proud of all that Citrus Australia staff, board and members have accomplished. I am grateful for the many opportunities I have had and the many friendships I enjoy. It is such an exciting time for the Australian citrus industry so I look forward to seeing continued growth and prosperity for our growers.”
