85% of the apples that Peru imports come from Chile

Apple imports have maintained a steady pace this year and are slightly higher than in 2016. According to the Agrodata Peru website, between January and May 2017, Peru imported 21,577,650 kilos of apples at a CIF value of US $15,951,739. In the same period of 2016, Peru imported 19,743,352 kilos worth US $14,594,947.

According to the same source, most of the apples were imported from Chile, as 85% of the apples imported came from that country. It was followed by the United States with 15%. 

The main importing companies were WSW SA, which made acquisitions for US $ 2,419,000, Menflo Hermanos SAC (US $ 1,777,000), HoneyFruit Import & Export (US $ 934,000) and Cencosud Retail Peru SA (US $ 695,000).
