PerfoTec introduces the Roadrunner in the US at the United Fresh show in Chicago from June 13-15. A Plug and Play top seal packaging machine integrated with the PerfoTec Laser Perforation System. Developed by Proseal and PerfoTec for companies that want to test, in a quick and simple way, how the PerfoTec technology can extend the freshness of their fresh produce.
Fruit, vegetables and flowers need oxygen to stay fresh. However, the amount of oxygen, and respiration rate, vary by variety and during the season. PerfoTec has developed a technology to quickly measure the respiration rate of fresh produce and calculate the required film permeability to meet the needs of the produce. With this information the patented Laser Perforation System can adapt the film permeability during film production or product packing. By slowing down the natural respiration rate it effectively puts the fresh produce to sleep, extending the freshness considerably.
This Plug and Play solution enables packers and processors of fresh produce to quickly and easily test how the PerfoTec technology extends the freshness of their fresh produce. Within 2 weeks they can experience the difference in freshness compared to their current packed products. And the testing can be done in their own environment.
The Roadrunner will facilitate our expansion in the US according to Joan Rosen, the US representative of PerfoTec. “In the US we import, export and ship large amounts of fresh produce across large distances. Product quality and waste are critical success factors and with the Roadrunner we can now quickly test and prove the benefit of our technology to US packers and producers”.
The Roadrunner consists of a Proseal GTR Tray sealing Machine and includes the PER 30 Laser from PerfoTec. It also comes with test material like punnets and Sealappeal ® PSF – an ultra-transparent and easy to peel film.
