"Fyffes labels agri careers fair a "resounding success"

Fyffes Head of Human Resources, William Faulkner, has labelled their high-profile presence at the recent Agri Careers Fair in the RDS a ‘resounding success’.

Since the event, the company has received over 1,000 applications from students seeking a place on their 2017 Graduate Management Programme, which begins in September.

Geared towards those pursuing a career in agriculture, horticulture, agribusiness, agri-technology, engineering or forestry, the Programme offers selected students a two-year work placement, that includes travel and hands-on experience working on a Fyffes banana, melon or pineapple farm in Central America.

Successful applicants, currently being interviewed and assessed for the limited number of places available, will get first-hand experience of the challenges faced by Fyffes in bringing its products to market in perfect condition – a process that will involve soil preparation to seeding, production, harvesting, packaging, logistics, ripening, quality control and distribution.

Describing the Agri Careers Fair as the ‘ideal platform’ in which to showcase their graduate programme, Faulkner praised organisers, saying that ‘early indications prove that our decision to exhibit was extremely worthwhile’.
