"We collect around 4000-4500 tons of spring strawberries, which our partners cultivate on approximately 115 hectares. Harvesting is now ending. Quality was good, also because 95% of the produce was protected in polytunnels, which proved particularly useful especially during the frost in April."
Eva and Garda remain the main varieties, "but breeding is continuing in cooperation with Crea Forlì. There is a specific selection that may represent a valid opportunity. We are looking for good texture, flavour and productivity. The perfect compromise must be found to satisfy producers, retailers and consumers."
Apo Scaligera exports half of its strawberries to countries such as Germany, Switzerland and Austria. This year, there were no overlaps with the local produce.
