According to the Peruvian Foreign Trade Society (ComexPeru), in the first quarter of this year, Peruvian mango exports totaled US $128 million, i.e. 4.9% more than the $122 million obtained during the same period of 2016.
Comexperu also pointed out that, according to data from the International Trade Center (ICC), Peru is the fourth largest supplier of this product worldwide.
The export guild detailed that this result was consistent with an increase in exports of this product in recent years. For example, between 2011 and 2017, mango exports between January and March recorded a 5.2% annual average growth, going from US $94 million to US $ 128 million.
Comexperu stated that the main destination for Peruvian mangoes in January-March 2017 was the Netherlands, which purchased $52.4 million (+ 14.7%), i.e. 41% of the total.
It was followed by the United States with US $38.8 million (+11.9%) and 30.3% of the market; the United Kingdom with $10.1 million (-27.7%), and Spain with US $8 million (+11.8%).
