Oneonta Starr Ranch Growers expects excellent supplies this season
Northwest cherry harvest to start around June 11
“Heading into the 2017 cherry season, weather in the Northwest has been perfect and is forecast to remain that way for the next few weeks,” according to Oneonta Starr Ranch Growers Marketing Director Scott Marboe.
“It’s really helping the sugars and sizing in this year’s crop, and we’re looking for a harvest start date right around June 11-13, with volumes ramping up quickly after that.”
Marboe said because the bloom was spread out across the state, supplies should be excellent all season.

“We should have good supplies of cherries for the Fourth of July and see wonderful opportunities in the month of July for promotions,” he said. The season will run through the end of August with fruit from the high-elevation orchards.
“Both international and domestic interest has been very strong,” Marboe continued. “After the record season and outstanding crop we had last season, people are excited for more of the same.”
