Chris Glynn joins Tanimura & Antle as Director of Organics

Tanimura & Antle has hired Chris Glynn as Director of Organics, as the company continues to build its team with leading organic veterans and lay the groundwork for a rollout of organic products. From 2005 until he joined Tanimura & Antle, Glynn was at Earthbound Farm, most recently as Vice President of Ag Supply, playing a pivotal role in the development and coordination of their network of organic growers.

"We worked closely with Chris when we were a partner in Earthbound Farm. As we began planning to launch our organic program, we knew we wanted to seed it with the best and the brightest," said President & CEO Rick Antle. "Integrity, expertise, and passion for organic are all important as we get off to a fast start but also create a program that’s built to last. Chris Glynn embodies all those qualities and we are excited to have him leading the organic supply program here as we get back into organic."

The company is currently conducting trials in preparation for a full launch later this year. “Tanimura & Antle’s Artisan Romaine is simply the best new lettuce around and we are very pleased with the results we’re seeing with it in organic trials”, said Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Jeff Jackson. “It’s been a real hit with customers and consumers and there’s a lot of excitement about us bringing an organic version to market.” Demand for organic produce continues to expand but it takes commitment and credibility to succeed at it 52 weeks a year. “We are investing the time and resources necessary to build a reliable year-round program backed by Tanimura & Antle’s legacy of integrity and expertise through four generations of farming. It’s an exciting time.”

Tanimura & Antle’s organic program is certified organic by CCOF, one of the country’s leading organic certifiers. The company has also joined the Organic Trade Association. Organic is consistent with Tanimura & Antle’s broader, long-term commitment to sustainability, including:
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in both organic and non-organic crops
  • Minimum tillage to avoid soil erosion
  • Cover cropping and crop rotation
  • Drip irrigation resulting in 19% decrease in water usage
  • Protection of adjacent ecosystems
