AgroExpo Agricultural Fair 2017 in May

The Lasithi Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organizing the second edition of the AgroExpo Agricultural Fair. The event is set to take place on the 26th to 28th of May in the city of Ierapetra in Crete.

According to the Chamber, the initiative for this event met with a great response from a large number of companies and organizations that are keen to attend as exhibitors. Growers and entrepreneurs from the island of Crete and the rest of Greece will be assembled at the event, which in time could turn out to become an important institution for the Mediterranean region.

On the second day of the fair, a hosted buyers event will take place, that will showcase products from attending companies, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, organic produce and olive oil.

AgroExpo2017 is expecting over 8,000 visitors from the rest of Greece and neighboring Mediterranean countries. Over half of the exhibitors are going to come from continental Greece. And during the hosted buyers event, b2b meetings can be arranged between buyers and local producers and cooperatives.

The region of Ierapetra is the main production area for vegetables on the island of Crete. It is home to groups of cultivators that combine modern with traditional methods. The main vegetables that are being produced are tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers and plum tomatoes. These products are the backbone of the primary production sector of the Cretan economy. The agricultural production of Lasithi Prefecture contributes 10.77% to the national volume of Greece.
