"China: First batch of "foreign fruit" comes through Urumqi International Airport"
On 16 May, 1,542 kilograms of cherries from Tajikistan arrived in China through Urumqi International Airport. This was the first time that "foreign fruit" has entered through the airport, after Urumqi Iternational Airport was approved to bring in fruit on 17 January this year.
Zhang Hongbing, a customs employee at Xinyun Changtong, handled the customs procedure for this batch of cherries. "In only one hour we finished the procedure," Zhang Hongbing states happily. "The rapid inspection provides a strong safeguard for imported cherries." He explains that his company is already discussing plans for the next batch of cherries. It is estimated that they will continue to import from the middle of May to the middle of June, with a total of approximately 20 tons. At the moment, there are already many companies who have plans to import fruit.
