New Zealand Zespri will have test planting in China

Recently, Zespri announced that it has launched a program to do a test planting of kiwis in Shaanxi province this season. This will be the second time that Zespri has carried out such plans in China. They hope that there will come a day when they can use kiwis that are produced in China to supply Chinese consumers.

The kiwis that Zespri now exports to China are from New Zealand, Italy and France. Because there are more and more Chinese producers who now also produce kiwis, the Chinese demand has been gradually rising over the past few years. Last year, Zespri implemented its test planting program for the first time in China. The difference with last year, however, is that this years program will involve Zespri's own producers, who will cooperate with the Shaanxi traders. This will gradually improve Chinese understanding of the production.
