Hans van der Meijs builds new processing room at Katwijk Carrot Centre

The Katwijk Carrot Processing Centre in Rijnsburg, the Netherlands, has expanded its operation to include a year-round packaging of carrots. In order to do this, in line with modern requirements, Hans van der Meijs BV has built a processing room with a corridor and hygiene sluice with new sandwich panels.

To optimise the working route, a corridor was built with a new overhead door. The new processing room has also been equipped with a new "speed" rolling door. The hygiene sluice, built with sandwich panels, boasts a Sanicare Dyson Hygiene unit. The means the entire processing room meets the current HACCP requirements. They deliberately installed a used refrigeration system and three recycled evaporators for the cooling of the room. It has also been fitted with LED lighting.

The new room has been constructed with a combination of new and used materials. This means the it is not only ready for the future, but has been built in an economic, environmentally-conscious way.
