Tiantian orchards opens shop with Xiaohongshu

New Zealand Piqa Boo red pears enter Chinese market

In the past few days, the leading Chinese fresh retail shop Tiantian orchards and the largest global shopping community Xiaohongshu have been promoting the jointly funded Piqa Boo New Zealand red pear gift box. This limited edition gift box can only be bought at Tiantian Orchards or the Xiaohongshu sales platforms. This Piqa Boo red pear is currently only being sold to a small number of countries. This is also the first time they are being sold on the Chinese market.

When we take a closer look at Piqa Boo red pears, the trade of the New Zealand pears looks very promising. The chairman of the New Zealand Trade development Department for the Chinese Region expresses that "we are very happy to bring the New Zealand red pear to China this year for the first time. The appearance and taste of the red pears are breathtaking. We hope that the customers of Tiantian Orchards will greatly enjoy these New Zealand pears."

The Piqa Boo New Zealand red pears are a product that was created from the natural cross-breeding method cultivation in the royal research institute of New Zealand. The pears are the hybrid offspring of Chinese red pears, Japanese pears and European pears. They possess the same beautiful appearance as the Chinese red pears and the Japanese pears, and they don't have to be peeled before eating, but they have the refined taste of European pears.

A purchasing delegation of Tiantian Orchards noticed this new variety during a trip to New Zealand three years ago. But because the production volume was very limited at that time, there was no way to bring them to China. Zhao Guozhan, the founder of the Tiantian orchards alliance, explains. "We are happy that we can bring the Piqa Boo red pear to the Chinese market. We firmly believe that the Piqa Boo red pear story is very similar to that of the kiwi. It originally came from China and now it returns there, bringing a completely new taste experience for Chinese consumers that brings fruit in China to a new level." This is the first year that New Zealand has taken on a quota production and it goes on sale at the same time in cities all over the world. "Tiantian Orchards worked hard to bring this more than excellent fruit to China, where Chinese consumers can taste this cherished fruit."

Xiaohongshu, a company that is also on the lookout for excellent fruits, was equally interested to bring the red pear to the Chinese market. The CEO of Xiaohongshu, Mao Wenchao, says the following. "The taste of Piqa Boo red pears and their outer appearance all show an outstanding quality. This will definitely satisfy the needs of consumers in terms of taste and freshness. Not only can customers buy the red pears from Xiaohongshu, but they can also share their experience. It's this accumulated public praise that will help Piqa Boo red pears to take the Chinese market by storm."

Tiantian Orchards got over 100 customers together from different ages and with different characteristics (Chinese overseas citizens in New Zealand) to evaluate the taste, feeling (texture, firmness, juiciness, etc.) and appearance of the red pears of Piqa Boo.

The unique and eye-catching red appearance of the Piqa Boo red pears and the exquisite taste will catch any consumer by surprise. About 70% of the people say they are fond of the pears and rate them higher than the normal pears they are used to. The words they use to describe the Piqa Boo pears are - sweet, juicy and firm. Some people believe that the pear gives the impression of a 'fruit variety with a tropical feeling'. 96% of the people believe that the sweet taste is what a perfect pear should taste like. The sweetness of the Piqa Boo red pears meets that perfect image. The firmness, sweetness and fragrance are all perfectly in balance.

Buying on first sight, that is often what decides whether consumers will accept a new product. So during the market research of the Chinese consumers, the participants were also asked to grade Piqa Boo red pears on their appearance, peel colour and shape. Piqa Boo red pears again obtained high scores. 73% of the consumers said that the shape of the pears was very close to what they saw as the 'perfect pear'.

The sales representative of Freshmax, the company that cultivates and sells the Piqa Boo red pears says: "Both when it comes to taste or appearance, the Piqa Boo red pears are the ideal concept of a pear for the main destination Asian markets."
