Peru was the UK's main supplier of mangoes in 2016

According to Peru's Commercial Office (OCEX) in London, Peru was the leading supplier of mangoes in terms of volume for the United Kingdom in 2016, a market that is currently the largest European consumer of this fruit with 59 thousand tons, followed by Germany (53 thousand tons) and France (36 thousand tons).

According to data published by UK Trade Info - Peru led with an 18.4% share of the UK market. It was followed by Brazil (15%) and Côte d'Ivoire (9%).

The OCEX stated that, in June, it would participate in the London Produce Show, the UK's most important platform for fresh fruit and vegetables, to consolidate the supply of mangoes and identify potential buyers in the United Kingdom.

The most popular mango varieties in Europe are the Keitt and Kent varieties, but consumers are starting to buy other varieties, such as the Palmer, Maya, and Shelly mangoes.
