China intercepts aspidiotus for the first time

A few days ago, the Inspection and Quarantine Office in Quanzhou city (Fujian province) detected aspidiotus (an insect pest) in mangoes which were brought into the country by tourists from the Phillipines. The mangoes were tested in the office's own laboratory and were then re-evaluated at another Inspection and Quarantine Office in Shanxi province. The harmful organisms were indeed identified as aspidiotus and were never before intercepted on Chinese soil. This is the third time since 2017 that the office for Inspection and Quarantine in Quanzhou intercepted harmful insects at their trading posts.
