Bangladesh: Price of packaging makes it difficult to open new markets

Companies from Bangladesh must improve in several areas to make their products better known in the international markets. One significant factor is their packaging, "which is problematic in our country because of its high price," stated Mainul Isalm, the Head of Avalon Associates. "For our part, we can offer very competitive prices, with which our customers would be very happy, however, not everyone can afford to pay 1 dollar of packaging per 10 kg of product," Mainul Isalm added.

This company, which has been operating for 5 years, aims to promote the country's products internationally. Some of the most requested products are red potatoes, Teasel pumpkin, and potol. However, improving the products' packaging is not an easy task, as the country's government does not allow companies to sell on credit, especially if the products being sold are perishable. "This makes us miss many opportunities to close deals with potential clients," stated Mainul Isalm. For now, Oman is the only country with which they are collaborating and they are trying to open new markets "adapting to international market standards," he said.
