Spain: Cuna de Platero receives the visit of 150 Ibero-American authorities

Cuna de Platero, a cooperative from Moguer, has been visited by 150 authorities, including mayors, councilors, and public officials, from 20 Latin American countries. The visitors are the attendees of the XXII Ibero-American Meeting of Local Authorities, which is held from April 25 to 28 and is organized by Huelva's provincial council and the Ibero-American Union of Municipalities (UIM).

The attendees toured the cooperative and saw all the strawberry production processes, from the field to the supermarket. They also attended a presentation made by the director general of Cuna de Platero, Juan Bañez, about the entity's work method and its pillars: innovation, sustainability, respect for the environment, and social responsibility.

"The local authorities participating in this meeting have learned about the values that mark each of the processes we carry out in the cooperative so that we can offer consumers the best fruit while respecting the environment and generating social benefits," Bañez stated.

He also said that the Spanish Heart Foundation had stated that the berries of Cuna de Platero were good for the heart and that people should eat them as part of a balanced diet to prevent cardiovascular problems. In addition, the cooperative has committed to R& D, "as this has allowed farmers to save an average of 18% in water, which also benefits the environment."

These meetings, the general director of Cuna de Platero said, "are very beneficial to strengthen ties with other territories and transmit knowledge from both shores."
