Opal® apples participate in consumer events around the US

Opal® appeared on multiple occasions around the United States from January through April to the cheers of existing fans and those trying the crispy, flavorful and sweet apple for the first time. Events took place from coast to coast and included races, family expos and festivals where Opals were distributed to rave reviews.

“These are the best apples I’ve ever tasted,” asserted one event attendee. “Oh my gosh, these are so good,” gushed another. Consumers were thrilled with the sweet taste and crisp texture of the Opal, leaving many wanting more.

Available in both conventional and organic varieties, Opals are well known for their bright yellow skin, distinctive crunch, sweet yet tangy flavor and natural resistance to oxidation – meaning they’re very slow to brown.

Opals were not only handed out to participants at each stop on the tour, but were featured in on-site announcements, social media call-outs prior to and during events, gift bags, coupon offerings and even Opal juggling.

“Our goal in attending these events is getting an Opal apple in as many consumers’ hands as possible,” said Chuck Zeutenhorst, general manager of FirstFruits Marketing of Washington, the exclusive distributor of Opal apples in North America. “We want everyone to get a chance to try an Opal and taste the difference.”

Opal apples were distributed at events in Santa Monica and San Francisco, Calif.; Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, and Miami, Fla.; Seattle, Wash.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Atlanta, Ga.; and Dallas, Texas. Thousands of consumers throughout the country were introduced to the Opal as more than 30,000 pounds of apples made it into the hands of fans young and old.
