"Strawberries from Shandong province's Ganrao county, part of Dongying city, entered the market on November 10 last year. Prospects indicate that the market time will end some time around the 1st of June. In comparison to last season, the current state of affairs shows a relatively stable output of strawberries and an equally stable market price", says Hong Wang from Ganrao's Thousand Villages strawberry plantation in Dongying.

"We breed more than 10 varieties of strawberries in our greenhouse plantations, including white strawberries, rosy strawberries, poinsettias, and others. Our plantation has a total size of approximately 6.7 hectares. The areas used to grow strawberries are equally large across all regions, and last year's weather conditions were fairly stable as well, so the total output of strawberries is currently in a more steady phase than was the case last year."

"The majority of the strawberries produced by our cooperative are sold domestically in supermarkets, and even wholesale markets, in first and second tier cities. Among these, about 25% of the total sales are on the online selling platform. Another smaller part of the strawberries is sold directly to the end customer by organizing picking days."
