Imported fruits maintain their advantage on Chinese market

"In the past few years, living standards have increased and the quality of fruit has become more important. The amount of imported fruit is also showing a trend of increase. But at the same time, improvements in domestic cultivation and the diversification of local varieties have also improved. In summary, I believe there are good prospects for imported fruit on the Chinese market, but the speed at which the import volumes grow will probably slow down," says the store manager of Chengshi Orchard.

Freshly cut kiwis for the customers to taste

"We procure seasonal fruits for import from large dealers everywhere. These fruits include apples, honey melons, oranges, mangoes, grapes, kiwis, blueberries etc. Then we sell them both in stores (70%) and online (30%), in retail sale or wholesale to final customers and other fruit shops. In the past two years, as online sales have developed, the internet has effectively strengthened and increased our sales. In the future, I hope that we will have the opportunity to further increase our online services."

"Moreover, when we buy fruits for import, the situation has changed compared to 5 years before. At that time, consumers only looked at the price, but now quality and origin of the fruit are also important factors."
