Fairtrade sales pass one billion mark in anniversary year

At the annual press conference on the 22nd May in Berlin, TransFair CEO, Dieter Overath, will present the figures from the 2016 financial year. Just in time for the 25th anniversary of TransFair, sales of Fairtrade products in Germany are pushing through the 1 billion mark. A higher awareness of sustainable consumption, a growing commitment in trading and manufacturing, and an active general public is the foundation which keeps Fairtrade on a path of growth.


At the annual press conference on the 22nd of May in Berlin, TransFair CEO will present the figures of the 2016 financial year. 

Heinz Fuchs, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, will consider TransFair's strategic objectives of strengthening itself on a political and economic level in order to reduce poverty and inequality in world trade. 

From Nicaragua, a Fairtrade partner country from the very beginning, Merling Preza Ramos will participate in the press conference. As Managing Director of the Prodecoop coffee organisation and member of the board of directors of the Latin American producer network CLAC, she will report on the current challenges in the producing countries, such as climate change.
