Guimara, Phillippine's mango crop down 6% in 2016

According to the Phillippine Statistics Authority (PSA) data Guimaras primary crop, mango, suffered a cutback of 6.46 percent, from its 11,839.55 MT production in 2015 to 11,075.14 MT in 2016.

The Carabao mango variety, which makes up the bulk of the total mango production of the province, fell by 6.47 percent, and that influenced the aggregate of the total production of the crop.

Guimaras mangoes are the only mangoes that can be exported to the mainland US and Australia, having been accredited by the United States Department of Agriculture – Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services and by Australian Quarantine Inspection Service.
