Landgard increases marketing activities to promote products of German producers

“Made in Germany“ most popular indication of origin in the world

Over 43,000 consumers in 52 countries have decided: “Made in Germany” is the most popular indication of origin in the world. According to a recent study, this label is synonymous with quality and its products adhere to high safety standards.

Landgard, Germany's leading marketing organization, has devoted itself to this high quality and safety regarding fruit and vegetables, plants and flowers. Landgards consistently promotes products of German farmers and producers with its campaigns “Deutsche Gärtnerware“ (German horticulture) and “Deutschland schmeckt“ (Tasty Germany).

“In this day and age, consumers want to know the origin of the products they are buying,” says Armin Rehberg Chairman of the Board at Landgard. "Not only the German industry, but also the agricultural sector, produces innovative, high-quality products. These quality products from German producers are thrust into the limelight with the labels "Deutsche Gärtnerware" or “Deutschland schmeckt“. Both campaigns are an integral part of our sustainability strategy and based on our partnership with over 2,500 German member companies."

German horticulture: know where it grows
Landgard’s plants and flowers that are produced in Germany with passion and to the highest standards, can be recognized by the logo "Deutsche Gärtnerware". Until now over 135 products such as cut flowers, shrubs, potted plants and garden plants have been certified with logo. These products are subjected to stringent quality guidelines, from seed to sales, and these guidelines are checked regularly. This guarantees the freshness and the excellent quality of the goods, as well as the variety of the product range and good working conditions for the employees. Overall, only flowers and plants of A1 quality that have spent at least two-thirds of their cultivation time at a German cultivator, receive certification with the "Deutsche Gärtnerware“ logo.

Fruit and vegetables grown in the region, “Deutschland schmeckt“
In the campaign “Deutschland schmeckt“ (Tasty Germany) Landgard focuses every season on a product of German producers, products such as asparagus, rhubarb, apples, tomatoes and many others. The campaign emphasizes the value of German fruit and vegetables and promotes its sales. Consumers have many good reasons to choose for local products when shopping. Locally produced fruit and vegetables arrive faster from the field on the plate, without long transport times, therefore locally grown produce is particularly sustainable and fresh. Products with the logo “Deutschland schmeckt“ are particularly aromatic and full of taste, because the produce is harvested when they are in season in Germany. These products are exclusively grown by German producers, which are often family businesses. By purchasing products certified with the logo “Deutschland schmeckt“, consumers contribute to the preservation of the German cultural landscape and traditional farms in Germany, which are very relevant for the region. The German products can be recognized not only by the “Deutschland schmeckt“ logo on the label, but there is also a QR code. If the QR code is scanned with a smartphone it directs the consumer to a website that provides background information on the campaign.
