Duisburger market celebrates 90th anniversary at its location in Kaßlerfeld

With more than 100 years of tradition, the Duisburger market means a lot to the inhabitants of Duisburg and its surroundings. A highlight this year is the 90th anniversary of the wholesale facility at the Duisburg-Kaßlerfeld site.

Since 1895, fruit and vegetables have been sold at the market in Duisburg's town centre. In 1927 the market was relocated to Duisburg-Kaßlerfeld and can now be found at the site "Auf der Höhe". In the past 90 years, the site has been regularly expanded and modernised. After a major fire in 2009, the central sales hall was rebuilt as a state-of-the-art facility with excellent framework conditions. Today, several hundred customers each day can be found perusing the 10,000 square meter market.

From a regional perspective, the Duisburg wholesale market is one of five major markets in North Rhine-Westphalia and comprises of the cities of Duisburg, Mülheim an der Ruhr and Oberhausen as well as the Wesel and Kleve districts as its immediate supply and catchment area.
