Pom’Alliance and Pomuni join forces

Pom’Alliance and Pomuni will join forces to achieve synergies and to have their complementary activities in the fresh potato sector. Both companies signed mutual cooperation agreements on March 30, 2017. Pom'Alliance acquired a stake in Pomuni France, and the Belgian group Pomuni acquired a stake in Pom'Alliance. There are many objectives of this close cooperation.

On the one hand, both entities are complementary, both as regards production and commercial specialities. Pomuni France, located in Esquelbecq, has a wide range of products, from 500 grammes of microwave potatoes, to potato specialities for restaurants, to up to 25-kilogram packaging for supermarkets. Pom’Alliance is more concerned with smaller and mid-size packaging for waxy potatoes. The production locations are also perfectly complementary: the north for Pomuni, and Normandy, Picardy, Beauce, Provence and Champagne for Pom’Alliance.

On the other hand, the synergies that can be realised by the two companies working together are a considerable triumph for the fresh potato segment. Development of varieties, ecological challenges, guidance of the products… All of these are challenges that require an optimised approach using mutual means.

Yet both, Pom’Alliance and Pomuni France, will still retain their own activities and commercial strategies. “In a world in which growers have to invent new production methods, in which consumers consume prepared meals more often and eat out more, and in which a fierce competition takes place for products that are considered ‘banal,’ Pom’Alliance and Pomuni will accept the challenge to create value for their sector,” the companies indicate.
