NZ: More kiwiberries to hit the shelves

Freshmax is focusing their 2017 Munch’n kiwiberry marketing investment on retail sampling sessions, social media, as well as PR tasting packs to journalists and food bloggers in the main and upcoming markets across Asia, as they are confident - once you try a Munch’n kiwiberry, you buy.

The appearance of the kiwiberry may not be the most appealing and there is still a lot of work to do to increase product awareness, but the key game-changer is getting people to try it. The taste wins people over pretty much every time, and wondering whether the taste is more like a kiwi or berry. One consumer said via Instagram, they have never known that this kind of fruit existed.

This weekend sees another big push of in-store sampling sessions in Jaya Grocer, Tesco, Village Grocer and Aeon stores in Kuala Lumpar and Penang, plus Coldstorage supermarkets across Singapore. Another media message in Japan is also due out early next week as Freshmax sees potential in this market following on from the success of blueberries.

“Sales, which began in late February, will run as normal until mid April, with Asia absorbing an increasing share and the Australian market really lifting demand in this latter part of the season. We are quite excited with the results we are seeing from the Coles Fly Buys promotion running at present.” says Tracey Burns, Export Division Manager at FreshMax NZ.
